The most expensive car in the world costs US$19 million and it’s such a beauty! The mystery owner of this luxury sports car is rumored to be soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, or former Volkswagen Group CEO Ferdinand Piëch – but nobody really knows for sure.
Almost all of these pricey luxury cars on this top ten list are high performance super cars. Some are stunners in the looks department, while others are quite…uhm…an acquired taste to say the least.
These mind-boggling machines are definitely head turners, and that’s exactly what they’re were made for…to make random strangers gasp and gulp upon laying their eyes on them.
They’re extremely loud and flamboyant vehicles that are hard to miss. And do you know what’s really funny…all of these expensive cars on our countdown will increase in value over time, while the rest of us who drive ordinary vehicles have to deal with depreciation…yep, life’s not fair.

Aston Martin Valkyrie – US$3.2 Million
The Aston Martin Valkyrie looks more like a Formula One vehicle than a sports car. Only 150 of them were ever made and it costs US$3.2 million, making it the 10th most expensive car in the world.
It has a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine, that produces 1,130 horsepower.
The Valkyrie is the result of a collaboration between Aston Martin and the Red Bull Formula One team.
It has a light-weight carbon fiber chassis and was developed as a track oriented car.
Limited Edition Bugatti Veyron by Mansory Vivere – US$3.4 Million
The limited edition Bugatti Veyron Mansory Vivere is frankly…quite ugly, it must be its performance that makes it cost US$3.4 million, cause it’s certainly not its looks!
It has a 8.0-liter W16 engine that produces 1,200 horsepower and it was styled with a custom carbon-fiber body by Mansory, a German company that specializes in customizing luxury vehicles.
The Mansory Vivere edition was styled after the Grand Sports Vitesse Roadster, and it features a customized cabin, a redesigned spoiler and front grille, as well as upgraded LED lights.
This revamped Bugatti Veyron takes the honors as the 9th most expensive car in the world.
Lykan Hypersport – US$3.4 Million
The Lykan Hypersport is the werewolf of the motoring world and costs US$3.4 million, making it the 8th most expensive car in the world.
It featured in the blockbuster film Furious 7 and it has a 3.7-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, that produces 780 horsepower.
It goes (0-60 mph) in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 240 mph.
The Abu Dhabi police force has one in their fleet and its headlights are encrusted with 15-carat diamonds!
The Lykan is manufactured by the Lebanese motor company, W Motors.
McLaren P1 LM – US$3.6 Million
The McLaren P1 LM is a street legal sports car that costs US$3.6 million, making it the 7th most expensive car in the world.
Only 6 of these luxury sports cars exist and they all have a large twin-turbocharged V8 engine, that produces over 1,000 horsepower.
It goes from (0-60 mph) in 2.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 214 mph.
Lamborghini Veneno – US$4.5 Million
The Lamborghini Veneno looks like a venomous snake and that’s exactly what its name means…Veneno means “venom” in Italian.
This super car costs US$4.5 million, making it the 6th most expensive car in the world.
It’s based on the Aventador roadster and was made to celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary.
The Veneno is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 engine, that produces 740 horsepower, and it has a top speed of 221 mph.
Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita – US$4.8 Million
The Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita is the 8th fastest car in the world and it costs US$4.8 million, making it hold another title as the 5th most expensive car in the world!
Floyd Mayweather has one in his personal collection and only 2 were ever made!
It features a unique double carbon rear wing, inconell exhaust system, carbon ceramic ABS brakes and a tire monitoring system.
Believe it or not, but the CCXR Trevita’s carbon fiber coating contains diamond dust!
It’s powered by a 4.7-liter twin-supercharged V8, that produces 1,004 horsepower.
Bugatti Divo – US$5.8 Million
The Bugatti Divo is an absolutely stunning car and it costs US$5.8 million, making it the 4th most expensive car in the world.
Only 40 units were ever made and they all have a 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, that produces 1,479 horsepower!
It’s named after Albert Divo, a French racing driver who’d won the Targa Florio race twice for Bugatti in the 1920s.
It has a reduced top speed of 235 mph and it goes (0-60 mph) in 2.5 seconds.
All 40 units were pre-sold to Chiron buyers, and all of them sold out within the 1st day of availability!
Mercedes Benz Maybach Exelero – US$8.0 Million
The Mercedes Benz Maybach Exelero has very peculiar looks and it costs US$8.0 million, making it the 3rd most expensive car in the world.
This high performance 4 seater comes equipped with a twin-turbo V12 engine, that produces 690 horsepower.
It’s no secret that Maybach is much loved in the Hip Hop industry. The Exelero starred in one of Jay-Z’s music videos and according to Top Gear, hip hop star Birdman purchased this luxury car and its now an addition to his car collection.
It has a top speed of 218 mph and it goes (0-60 mph) in 4.4 seconds.
Rolls-Royce Sweptail – US$13 Million
The Rolls-Royce Sweptail is a one-off luxury land yacht that cost US$13 million, making it the 2nd most expensive car in the world!
It was commissioned in 2013, by a luxury yacht and aircraft designer whose identity still remains unknown.
The hand-built Sweptail is based on the Phantom platform and it has a 6.75-liter V12 engine, that produces 453 horsepower.
It has a top speed of 150 mph and goes (0-60 mph) in 5.6 seconds.
Bugatti La Voiture Noire – US$19 Million
The Bugatti La Voiture Noire is one of the most beautiful hyper cars ever made and it costs an astronomical US$19 million, making it the most expensive car in the world!
La Voiture Noire means “the black car” in French and the identity of its owner is unknown…
